First Grade has been working on several writing projects over the past few weeks. We finished writing research books on eagles and the kids loved researching this amazing bird! 🦅 Today the students had to “apply” to become the next Easter Bunny and explain why they would be the best for for the job! 🐰 We’ve also been studying 2D and 3D shapes using math manipulatives from the Math for Life grant we received over the summer!

First Grade enjoyed learning new facts and viewing the amazing animals on the field trip. We used the trip as an opportunity to review the science vocabulary we’ve learned this year. We discussed whether each animal was nocturnal or diurnal, and classified each as a carnivore, omnivore, or herbivore! 🦌 🦃 🦉 🦝

First Grade has been learning how to write a narrative paragraph! They worked in pairs to practice telling stories that included lots of details! Did you know that by the end of the year 1st graders can write 5 sentence paragraphs? It takes lots of practice, but we work hard all year to build our stamina and confidence. 📝 💡
